Unlike many registries around the world, including Australia, there are very few restrictions on who can register a .nz Domain. Here's what you need to know:

  • If you are an individual, you must be at least 18 years of age
  • If you are an organisation, you must be properly constituted
  • You do not need to be based in New Zealand, or have any physical presence
  • You do not need to conduct any business in New Zealand
  • Domains do not need to be hosted in New Zealand
  • There are 10 unrestricted suffixes and 6 moderated suffixes.
