The Unique Domain Authentication Identifier (UDAI) is a case-sensitive, eight-character-long "password" which is a randomly generated unique identifier for every Internet NZ domain name (code ".nz"). The UDAI is made up of letters in both upper and lower case as well as numbers.

How do I get a UDAI?

When you register your Domain a UDAI should be emailed to you straight away.

What if I lose my UDAI?

Don't worry, you can always generate a new one, which will make any previous UDAIs invalid.

Your Domain provider should provide a way for you to generate a UDAI yourself, which will either be displayed to you on-screen or by email. If the UDAI is emailed, it will generally be sent to the nameholder email.

How do I check the nameholder email?

Go to the DNC website and in the header type your Domain in the search box. This will show all the registered contacts for your Domain. The item to look for is labelled Registrant Contact Email .

How do I change the nameholder email?

If the nameholder email is one that you do not have access to you can change it, but the process for this varies by registrar. You may be able to change it through your registrar's management console (if they offer one), but some registrars may require a signed letter requesting the change (on company letterhead in the case of an entity.)

How do I find out who my registrar is?

Go to the DNC website and in the header type your Domain in the search box. This will show all the registered contacts for your Domain. The item to look for is labelled Registrar Name . You can then find the registrar's contact details here .

How long should it take to receive my UDAI?

Your registrar is obliged to make it available to you promptly upon request. If you are experiencing unreasonable delays you can complain to the DNC .
