The New Zealand domain name space is represented by the .nz suffix. There are 16 types of .nz suffix available for registration, including .co.nz, .org.nz, .net.nz and simply just .nz. Read our tips on how to choose a good .nz Domain and what the different .nz suffixes mean.
We are a New Zealand-owned and operated company with 20 years' experience in the NZ Domain market. If you're looking for the cheapest (and best-value) Domain Name registration in New Zealand, you'll find it here. Just compare our prices with other .nz providers. We simply can't be beaten on price.
It's not so much that we're cheap, rather, most .nz registrars are over-charging for Domains. The wholesale cost (to registrars like us) is just $18 +gst per year. Some registrars are charging up to $74.95 per year, which we think is an unfairly large profit. We've made a commitment to offering .nz Domains at a fair price.
The great thing about .nz Domain names is that when you transfer them to another registrar, there's NO FEES TO PAY. Whatever remaining time you have on your current renewal will transfer over to your new registrar, and there's no requirement to renew at any time during the process.
If you have one domain, or one hundred, we can handle your transfers for you via our complementary concierge service. Simply contact us with either a list of Domains and their UDAIs, or your registrar login, and we'll do the rest, with guaranteed zero-interruption to your website and email.
We believe in doing one thing really well and we chose domains, so that's all we do. However, we have a sister company, MyHost, who offer affordable, fast and secure hosting options. It’s all run by the same team, so you can trust that your hosting will be very well looked after!
MyHost is offering your first 6 months free on any email or web hosting plan when you pay monthly. You'll see the discount code when you log into Domains Direct.
*Offer valid for new MyHost customers only, and excludes sites already hosted with SiteHost (our other sister company).
UDAI stands for Unique Domain Authentication ID and it acts as your Domain's password so you can move it between registrars. A UDAI can be issued at any time by your current registrar and must be sent immediately upon request.
