Email issue resolved: Our sender name is back to being Domains Direct

by Domains Direct 2 min read

For a few days last week, emails from Domains Direct were accidentally labelled as coming from the name of another business. We are very sorry for the confusion.

The problem has been resolved now and everything is back to normal.

What happened?

Our upstream supplier made an error when we asked for their help updating a customer’s details. As you can probably guess, they updated our name instead. That changed the sender details on automatic emails like renewal notices and payment receipts.

This wasn’t a hack or security breach. Your domains, credit card details and contact information have all been kept as securely as ever.

Payments continued to happen as usual. If you paid an invoice, your money ended up where it should have.

This was not a phishing attack or spam. Despite the unexpected sender name, the affected emails were genuinely from us, Domains Direct. Any links were safe to click and the details in those emails were true.

None of your details or domains were affected. This was human error and only our name was changed. No customer data was affected.

Once again, we’re sorry for the confusion. We’ve been in conversation with our supplier and have been assured that this won’t happen again.

If you have any questions, get in touch and we’ll be happy to answer them.
