Are you an authorised .nz registrar?

Yes, we are an authorised registrar however we have not yet transitioned to our own platform so we are still under the registrar Crazy Domains (the DNC required us to first operate on a reseller's platform before we cuold be granted authorisation.)

Why aren't you offering .com Domains?

Let's face it, dot coms are a pain to administer, and we simply can't compete on price the way the larger registrars do, so we're just keeping things simple and offering the best-value .nz Domains in the market.

What types of Domain can I register?

Currently you can register all types of .nz Domains.

How do I register a Domain?

Visit our home page , enter the domain you want to register and choose your .nz suffix; then go through the process of entering your contact details and your payment details, and your Domain will be registered immediately. We have a step-by-step guide to help you register.

What types of payment do you accept?

At this time we only accept credit card payments (all major cards accepted.) We do not accept cash, cheque or direct credit.

Can I register multiple Domains at once?

Yes, you can click the "+ Add" button each time you search for a Domain so you can register them all in one transaction.

Can I register for multiple years?

Yes, you can register for 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 years. There is no discount for multiple years.

How long does is take to register?

As soon as your payment is processed, your Domain will be available to use immediately.

How do I transfer a Domain?

Obtain your authorisation code (aka auth code) from your current registrar. Go to our transfer page, enter your Domain, then the auth code, and the Domain will transfer immediately. We have a step-by-step guide to help you transfer.

Can I transfer multiple Domains at once?

At this time you can only transfer one Domain at a time. If you have a large number of Domains, you can contact us and we'll help you move them from your current registrar. Contact us.

Can you help me bulk transfer from another registrar?

Yes, you can either send us a list of Domains and Auth codes and we'll bulk-transfer them, or you can send your registrar login and we'll handle the transfer process for you, free of charge. Contact us.

Is there a charge to transfer a Domain?

No, there is no charge when transferring a Domain. The remaining registration on your Domain carries over between registrars.

How long does it take to transfer?

Domain transfers are processed immediately. There is no delay.

How do I renew a Domain?

Go to our renewal page, enter your Domain, enter your credit card details, and the renewal is processed straight away.

Can I renew for multiple years?

Yes, you can renew for 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 years. There is no discount for multiple years.

Will I get notification when renewal is due?

Yes, we will email you as early as two months prior to your renewal date, and will then send regular notices of the pending renewal. The email will be sent to the billing contact email.

What happens if I don't renew?

Your Domain will go into a "pending release" state for 90 days. During this time you can renew, however once the period ends, the Domain is released into the public pool for anyone to register.

How can I renew a cancelled/expired Domain?

Provided the Domain is still in the "pending release" state, you can simply follow our renewal process.

What is an Authorisation code?

The authorisation code, or auth code, is a case-sensitive, 16-character "password" used during the domain transfer process. Auth codes are generated when you request them from your registrar. They are alphanumeric (including capital letters) and expire after 30 days.

How do I obtain my auth code from Domains Direct?

Login to your account. Next to your Domain name, you'll see the option to request your auth code, which we'll email to the domain owner's address.

How do I obtain my auth code from another registrar?

If you request an auth code from any other registrar, they must issue it to you immediately, without question. Simply contact your registrar and ask them to email it to you (it can only be sent to the current name holder email.)

What's a UDAI?

If you've seen the term UDAI, that's the same thing as an authorisation code. It's just an older name for it. (UDAI stood for "Unique Domain Authentication Identifier".)

Can I set my own nameservers?

Yes, you can set your own nameservers, or you can use ours by default.

Can I set DNS records?

Yes, you can set DNS records inside the management console (currently A, AAAA, MX, and CNAME.)

Can I set up forwards for my website and email?

At this time we do not provide either of these services.

Do you offer mailbox or hosting services?

At this time we do not provide either of these services.
