New .nz domain price for Domains Direct customers

Earlier this year we shared news from InternetNZ that the wholesale cost of .nz domains is about to go up by 22%. This is a big increase and, like most retailers, it’s more than we can absorb.

But we’re happy to say that we’ve been able to lock in a price rise that’s smaller than the wholesale increase. We’ll only be adding $2 to our price, which is one of the lowest increases in the market.

From July 1, .nz domains will cost $23.50/yr (+ GST). Before then, the current price of $21.50 will apply to any domains you renew or register. So if you act fast, you can lock in up to 10 years at the older, lower cost.

Good news for existing customers

If you’re already with Domains Direct, keep an eye on your inbox. We’re planning to move most of our customers to our sister company, MyHost, and provide access to their superior technical platform and service at Domains Direct prices. If you’re one of the lucky ones, we’ll email you ahead of time.
